It was not at good night at all last night. First, it took me longer than normal to fall asleep. Then I woke up well before my alarm went off and had trouble getting back to sleep. Also, as my alarm was about to go off, I was awaken by screaming and crying children. When my alarm did go off, I went down stairs to have breakfast. For breakfast I had my usual piece of bread and two glasses of water. At breakfast, I was greeted by Quique and then the crying and screaming continued. After breakfast, I went back to my room to try and go back to sleep for awhile since I did not have a good night. As I lied in bed, I started getting a headache and body aches so I was not able to go back to sleep. When I got back up, I did my morning devotion and prayed that my day would get better. Next, I took some medicine to try and feel better and then got ready for my day. I then received a phone call from Larry saying that he would be at my place in five minutes to take me to do my final shopping. I finished getting ready and went out to meet Larry who was already waiting for me in a taxi. This shopping time was successful; I was able to get gifts for those who helped me a lot and even got a farewell present to give to the youth group. Also, I went to the post office with Larry and while there made a stop in one of the stores to get a gift for the housekeeper Adelina who has been very flexible with my schedule. Larry and I then headed back to his apartment, but on the way stopped to see if the music had been copied and put into a book like I asked for. We waited a couple minutes and then received it and then returned to the apartment. On the way back to the apartment we ran into Bob and Meg so we talked with them for awhile. While at Larry’s apartment, I rested and looked over the music that had been copied to see if it was copied well which it was. It was then time for me to head to Casa de Nazeret so I walked down the street to catch a micro there since I was already half way there. As I was waiting for the micro, Omar and Paula came by so they gave me a ride to my work. It was good to talk to them on the ride there because every time I speak in Spanish I feel that I improve. When I arrived at Casa de Nazeret, all the boys cheerfully greeted me. I also had one of the best feelings afterwards because it seemed like the boys were in competition to get to me first to ask for help with their homework. Several of them came and asked me for help while I was helping another volunteer do a jigsaw puzzle. It was then time for lunch in which I had rice with a fried egg, green beans and tomatoes. During lunch the boys talked with me about what other countries I have been to and to describe what Pennsylvania is like. After lunch it was time for me to supervise as the boys did their chores. When the boys were through with their chores, it was time for homework. For homework I helped all the boys who asked me to help them so that means that I moved around a lot. Most of my help today was in the subject of math. I helped one boy with single digit division. Next, I helped three other boys with multiplication and was even able to do a check that they do that is different than what I am used to in the United States. Then I helped the same boys with single and double digit division. As it was close to snack time, I helped a boy finish his math homework that dealt with order of operations. As soon as the boys were done we headed to the park to practice soccer. First, we did techniques and then we were able to play two games. Since the weather has been unusual here with a lot of wind and feeling like it is going to rain; the boys showered inside since it was cold outside. After the boys had showered, some of them came and sat with me to show me how to play this game with marbles. I then stayed to have dinner with the boys. At dinner, I talked with the boys about the soccer game we played today and what our favorite sports were. For dinner, I had a very small bowl of soup that had some vegetables and rice in a chicken broth. After eating dinner, I went into the living room with the boys and one of them came to me to read a book with me. This was good because he would correct me if I mispronounced a word. Next, I left to go to the class of panorama of the Bible at the church office. When I arrived there was more food, so I had a piece of fried chicken with French fries and some Coke. While waiting for others to arrive, I helped translate some playing cards of this boy that were in English. This was the introduction to the course, so I filled out a paper that had some questions on it about general information about the Bible. We then were asked our expectations for the course. Also, we were given packets for the course and given homework for the next week. I understood and was overjoyed with how much I was able to participate in tonight’s class. The only thing I did not understand was about writing cards for next week, so I hope to clarify this on Saturday at youth group. Before leaving the class, I returned the music that Omar let me copy. Omar then drove me home since it was late. Upon returning to the house, Susana and her family were there with some guest and they were taking pictures which I decided to do as well. My prayer was answered of getting a picture of Susana’s family all together and one along with me as well. Afterwards, Susana and I tried to talk about some of my gifts, but then she wanted to take her guest home so she said that she would talk to me later. I then went to talk to Quique about events for this weekend and there were going to be blockades. Susana then returned home and so we talked about my gifts and gave her the money to pay for them and also I received information about this weekend from her. It was late by then, but I still decided to relax a little bit by using the internet. Since, I did not have a good morning; I felt really tired. So I figured that it would be best if I showered, said some night time prayers, and went to bed.
